I have just a few minutes for an update..
-We had a doctor's appointment and an ultrasound. The ultrasound was wonderful and more than we expected. We had an 8 week ultrasound with Delaney and she was a little ball with a heartbeat..This one had arms, legs, kicking and moving and all the good stuff. It was really exciting. We're working on putting pictures up. Oh. and the heartbeat was 170...
per the dr, all looks good. Nothing really exciting to report there. Other than, when you're pregnant, it's like "Welcome into my Hoo..". I don't enjoy that part.
-I'm starting to feel a little better. Today is the second day that I haven't taken a Zofran (nausea med) the minute I woke up and I didn't take one at all yesterday. My energy level seems to be returning in the late afternoon/early evening, which is really nice.
-Work is going okay. I'm completely swamped with a more than double caseload for a full time employee and I'm part time and I have two people to supervise as assistants and one of them is lovely and independent and the other requires a lot of work. Plus, I'm not really getting to see kids because I'm doing paperwork on 83 kids.
-Zap seems to be doing really well. I know he's always tired and worked to the bone, so I'm hoping to start helping him out a little more as I get more energy and it gets a little warmer outside (I'd like to start walking the dog for him soon).
-Oh. My dad's coming in town tomorrow. It will be only his second time meeting Delaney. He started trucking again and got a load out here. We're really excited about that.
That's about it. There's just not that much to share and I don't want to bore you all silly :)

i'm such a slacker
Sorry for not posting in a while. We had a wonderful, white Christmas this year. It was so special I think for both of us and I think Delaney had a nice time. We woke up early Christmas morning and Zap made cinnamon rolls and we opened presents. I wanted to delay it some just to soak in the experience of our first Christmas in our new home and with Delaney, but Zap was eager to open presents.
Needless to say, Zap spoiled me this year, like he always does. My big gift was a set of two Disney snowglobes that are actually bookends. One has older Disney characters with old animation methods and the other has newer Disney characters with new animation methods. I'm fascinated by it. I put it up over the fireplace and it looks so nice. I was worried about putting it on the illusion shelves, but they're supported.
Delaney got some great toys: a rocking puppy, some blocks, a parachute, some new clothes, and on and on. Next year, she'll be tearing up wrapping paper I'm sure. This year we had a hard time getting her into it.
We were nice and lazy Christmas morning and then Zap's family came over around 1. We had spaghetti for lunch and opened family gifts.
We didn't do anything for New Year's Eve..In fact, we were in bed by 10:00. We're just worn out. Zap's having to pick up so much slack with me feeling this icky from the pregnancy and he's exhausted. But he doesn't complain and he works so hard. I married a wonderful man.
In pregnancy news, all seems to be well. I have my first appointment with a doctor on the 14th and I talked a nurse into scheduling an ultrasound just to make sure that all is well and she scheduled it for the 12th at 3:30, so I'm really excited about that. I've been having really significant back pain and also some arthritis pain in my hands and elbows, so I plan to talk to the doctor about those issues. I had back pain with Delaney but I haven't had anything resembling arthritis pain in years.
I'm excited about the pregnancy but I'm not sure that it's at that "this is fun" stage. It's so different than with Delaney. My great friend Kate is almost 20 weeks pregnant (wow..Katie..1/2 way there) and she called last week and let me vent to her and it was so helpful. This is a very much wanted and tried for pregnancy with her and she's excited about every little thing, as she should be. Having someone who feels that way makes me feel more excited about this little bean (who Zap is calling "toot"..hopefully the nickname won't stick).
That's about it..I start work again tomorrow and get back into the swing of things. .. When's Spring Break??? :)

snowed in!
Well, believe me, I was singing "let it snow" for a few days. I've never been in snow like this. It comes up to the top of my calves on my street. I've never seen snow like this in my life, so I was very excited for it. Until I realized that we're pretty much snowed in. Zap went this morning to get chains for the van tires, but not a set to be found. He did end up taking the van into work, so it's not like we're truly stuck in the house, but I'm sure not driving in it.
I was going to have my first OB appt for this baby today, but the doctor's office is closed until 12:00 so they canceled my appointment. I was looking forward to this appointment and getting out of the house, but oh well. Delaney seems to be getting a little cabin fever herself. She seems completely sick of her playroom. She's been "helping" me with laundry.
Other than that, we're very excited about Christmas. We haven't finalized plans yet as to what we'll be doing. I think that with the weather the way it is, we're going to have a hard time. Plus, I really don't want to get up on Christmas morning and go to someone's house (even if it's my in-laws who I love). I want to be lazy on Christmas morning and stay in my jammies as long as possible.

i feel human again
I felt horrible this weekend. Not bad, not crappy. Horrible. I know that I'm generally given to exaggeration, but all I could do was lay on the couch and moan. I had morning sickness all day and my entire body was incredibly achy.
Now I know that I have one of the best husbands on the planet, but this weekend he really showed me that the part in our vows, where I said I was incredibly honored to call him my husband is so true. He did everything this weekend and let me lay in bed or on the couch. I know he's worn out, bless his heart, so I owe him big time.
Sunday I started feeling better. My morning sickness has kicked into vomit stage (as of this morning) but I don't feel nearly as horrible as I did this weekend. All I can think is that I had a cold or a flu bug or something on top of being newly pregnant and nauseated all day.
We took Delaney to her nine month checkup today. We did a language/social skills checklist to see if there were any symptoms of Austim and we really are blessed to have no concerns about Delaney. She's in the 50% percentile for height (27 inches) and the 75% for weight (20.2 pounds) and head circumference (which I don't remember). Dr. has no concerns about her and thinks she gets cuter every visit (so do we of course). Just good news all around.
We had our first winter snow and everything is all white and pretty. I'm hoping we have a white Christmas this year.
I need to run and eat lunch, but I just wanted to let y'all know I'm back :)

be careful what you wish for
SO.. I was saying that I don't feel pregnant. I think in a way I was wishing for a little "morning sickness" like I had with Delaney to reassure me. But not at 3:30 am which kept me up for an hour and right now it's so intense that I'm literally fighting it back constantly.
guess the tater tot is a-ok though.

what's new here...
well, not a lot. We're just a little over five weeks pregnant and most parts of the day, I don't really feel pregnant. With Delaney, from the fourth or fifth day after we found out, I was sick. And I mean, really sick. Right now, I have some waves of nausea, but that's about it. I'm pretty tired and I've been trying to get some naps in, thanks to Zap finding nap time for me, but I never manage to sleep.
We put our Christmas tree up. It looks so pretty. Last year, we cut our own tree but with time constraints this year, we just chose a live one. We got a Noble Fir and I think it looks quite "noble" in our home.
Delaney learned to sign "all done"..Seems like a good thing at first, but she very quickly generalized it from eating to diaper changes. So she'll be like "all done" mid diaper change. Umm..no you're not. :) Delaney also seems to be cutting her first top teeth. She's not too happy about it.
I've officially started baking Christmas cookies. I make these really yummy chocolate and peppermint swirl cookies and I've got the first half of the baking process done.
I'm really excited for my Christmas break from work. We're out from the 19th to the 5 of January and I'm planning on using that time to get a lot of things done around the house. I also feel like I haven't been able to do a lot of the things I like to do with Delaney since I'm working four days right now. I'm only able to make one day a week for our babygym class and there haven't been many Friday babygroups with the holidays and all.
But I think that's about it. Wish I had more to share. Not much excitement here.

random news
We did Delaney's 8 month pictures on Monday and they came back looking better than I imagined. What really makes me happy is that Delaney was not easy to work with that day and the pictures still came out pretty amazing. If you haven't seen them, please let me know and I'll share.
My blood work came back really well. We're definitely pregnant. I'm not sure that I needed the blood test to tell me that though. I'm starting to feel a little queasy during the day. Brushing my teeth is an intimidating task because it used to make me sick when I was pregnant with Delaney.
I'm working the next three Wednesdays and today the SLP assistant who is going to help cover the caseload at my school since the other SLP left is coming and I officially have to hand over some kids. I'm going to "help her be independent" but I'm also going to be watching therapy closely. I have some kids that I'm not comfortable sending her way. And only because I think that either the relationship that we've developed or their need for continuity is more important. I'm going to be picking up some kids in the Developmentally Delayed program and I'm sure I will come to love them.
