we're okay.. we're very busy and it feels sometimes like there's no way to get it all done.
But Dash is an absolute doll. He's so different than Delaney ever was. She was a doll too, but she needed a lot and we had a hard time figuring her out. He's mellow and even during the fussiness peak, the only time he really gets upset is if he's wet, dirty, sleepy, or hungry. He's pretty easy to figure out. He'll be 8 weeks this Friday so I'll do that post for him later.
Delaney is eighteen months as of this past Friday. I tried to make it a special day, even though it wasn't something she was aware of. We measured her height on her wall chart and had a picnic in our neighborhood park. She's absolutely amazing in so many ways. She's so silly. Here's a few of my favorite silly things she does:
1) pretend to go nite-nite when you rock her. She closes her eyes really tightly and peeks out to see if you're looking. When I look, she smiles, which makes me giggle like crazy. Then she giggles like crazy. It's too much fun.
2) She's started singing in the car. Come on, how stinking cute is that?
She's so smart. Here's some examples of how smart she is:
1)She's learned to sign "listen" and she loves to tell me to listen to things during the day. ESPECIALLY airplanes
2) She wanted to touch the slug on our walk this past Sunday but was a little unsure if she really wanted to. So, she went and grabbed a stick.
3) She's learning a lot of new words. She can say "Delaney", "Dash", "Brenna" - and those are just the new ones.
4) She's recognizing people in pictures; She sees a picture of my mom and says "Nana".
She's very sweet. Some favorite sweet things:
1) squeeze hugs. and boy does she squeeze
2) hugs and kisses after time out
3) kisses for Dash and trying to hold him
She's a little scientist and her day is all about new experiences, learning how things work, and new sensory experiences. Knowing that her day is about getting messy and pushing limits helps me to stay cool and calm and not get upset with her when the floor is covered in water from the dog bowl.
She's sleeping great, waking up sometimes at night if her teeth hurt her or if she has a bad dream. She goes to bed and nap on her own with little to no cuddling or rocking. She's lately really started to get into books of all kinds. She loves going to the Lacey library and pulling books off the shelf to stack them in.
I have a lot of fun finding things for her to do and explore. We do the toddler gym we've been going to since she was six months old and we are going to start a Lacey parks and recreation toddler gym on the 29th. We've started a gymnastics class and she really enjoys it. She's got so much energy that we have to find physical activities for her. She loves going to all the area parks and trying out their slides and playgrounds. She enjoys going down slides face first too!!
Okay, my little ball of energy is awake and nap time is over. I'm glad I got a blog post about her up. I'm worried that in a few years I won't remember many details of her at this amazing, wonderful, sometimes frustrating but always interesting age.
